An article about a child’s school-readiness was posted on a site I contribute to, Mom Exchange. It talks about how her child failed the kindergarten readiness exam in her state. The biggest blow to her was that she was a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) and that she has been taking care of so many of her relative’s children prior to that. Even I was astounded as to how much was expected from a 3 year old. Check out the Jumpstart list.
After going through the site, I hurriedly registered for their weekly newsletter with tools on how to make your child school-ready by age 3. I hope my (and the husband’s) enthusiasm and patience is enough to make Elise ready by the time she’ll be kindergarten-bound. ![]()

kindergarten readiness? i havent heard of that. we simply registered the kids and they are in. no interviews, no exams. that’s a hard world they’re living in if they do that. i dont know what they did since i cant open the link. but the kids are supposed to be exposed to social skills, group plays, etc — it is in kindergarten that they should learn to be ready for school but that would be when they are already in their pre school ages–
