Social/Environmental Responsibility Tip (SERT) #1

If you’re purchasing anything from food, over-the-counter medicines, small items or even when you’re buying just one item, ask them not to put it in a plastic bag anymore. Instead just ask for the receipt and then put your purchase in your bag.

How does it help? Less used plastic bags means less trash for the environment and even less trash for you. We seldomly have any other use for small plastic bags, anyway.

Do the same for fast food, refuse if they put cup covers on your cup when you eat in and try not to use plastic straws.

Remember, a little goes a long way!

Hi Aiza! We do SER, but we can’t avoid asking for lids and straws. Can’t have messy spills on clothes with the little children, :)

Reusing of grocery bags for trash? Yup. Segregating plastic bottle and cans from other trash? Yup. One of my dreams, to not see a hill of trash on streets. Well…

Hi teacher Julie! On straws and lids, its a yes for kids, but for us, if we can avoid it, why not?

On plastic bottles, that’s right! I’ve forgotten about that. You can also sell those for P.50 to P1 per piece at junk shops. We sell the 6-galloner plastic bottle from the daughter’s water for P1 each.
