I Lack 4 Hours of Sleep

Elise and MeBecause Elise was persistently crying, on and off, from 10 pm to 2 am. It was really horrifying to see the little one cry her lungs out. Siyempre nataranta ako. First, I tried giving her milk, thinking she was just hungry. But she didn’t like it, the sight of her bottle made her bawl even more. That lack of interest in food, doubled my curiosity. My uber takaw darling declining food? Ayayay!

I thought she was having nightmares. I tried carrying her with her head on my shoulders and rocked her to sleep. She slept a bit. Bye bye nightmares.

Fifteen minutes after setting her down, she cried again, even louder this time. Then she retched and vomited. A lot. From all the gooey stuff, I saw all the food she ate during dinner (she was at my in-laws, I was cooking dinner). She must have ate so much that it gave her a tummy ache.

I carried her downstairs, gave her iced water and she sipped on in sparingly, sobbing periodically from all that crying. She was wide awake now, at 1130pm. At least she stopped crying.

Good thing my MIL dropped by and asked why we were still up so late. Told her the incident and she told us all those things she ate. Spaghetti and juice then when she saw the adults eating, she wanted to eat. Again. So they gave her a few helpings of rice with curry sauce from the chicken curry.

The MIL told me to dab a bit of yee tin oil or manzanilla on Elise’s tummy and massage it to alleviate the pain.

So I did. Took her up to our room, put a bit of yee tin and massaged her pain away. Or so I thought. In a few minutes, she was wailing again. The massage wasn’t working. Her voice was already getting hoarse from all that crying. Awang-awa na talaga ako sa kanya. I didn’t know where I got the idea but I thought of giving her a hot compress. I told myself, if this didn’t work, I might as well bring her to the ER, she might be having a stomach flu na. And it was already past 1 am.

I asked the hubby to hold her again. Doing so made her cry even more. Rushed downstairs, boiled water and put it in the hot pack bag. Wrapped the hot package in a thin towel and placed it on her tummy. It fell off, she wouldn’t stay put. So I carried her, cradle style, sandwiching the hot pack between us and rocked her to sleep. Ten minutes later, silence prevailed. YEY! WAGI!!

Spoke too soon, silence was broken again, but this time she cracked a fart. And no, she didn’t rip once, she did it for about 4-5 times. Hay salamat! It worked.

Its past 2 am when we said goodbye to Elise’s gassy tummy and the worrying mommy. Hugging her tight, I kissed her and off to LaLaLa land we go.

    Awww, kinabag. Poor baby

Aiza: Too matakaw kasi, hehe. My dad called me up, sabi niya I shouldn’t be experimenting kasi if it were appendicitis, the hot compress will make things worse. Ayayay! So the moral of the story, call the pedia.
