4 Forks and Leftovers (Confessions of a Foodie)

lefoversI’ve always wanted to be a food critic. For one, my appetite is insatiable (ahahaha) and two, I’m adventurous with food (among other things). I’m not scared to try out new food or to shell out if in case it were a bit expensive. As my dad would always say, scrimp on anything else except on food.

The only thing that would make me fail as one is that I always, ALWAYS forget to take photos of the food before it’s all consumed. When the food comes in, it takes extra willpower for me not to dig in immediately. Oh well… (me fails the marshmallow test)

Take for example, our little outing last friday. (I know, I know, its been a week and still, I haven’t the determination to write about it.) Ycon, a good friend from the former workplace, is getting married next week. We wanted to throw a nice little get together for her, a despedida de soltera of sorts. So the four of us girls, all pasta lovers, met at a cozy little place named Alexa’s Deli (www.alexasdeli.com - unfortunately, the website is down as of date of publish), found along H.V. Dela Costa St., Salcedo Village in Makati. A good stone’s throw away from my office.

They have a good variety of pastas, sandwiches and desserts. Oh, and did I mention that the deli offers a wide selection of wines to go with your palatables? Too bad I was driving that night, and since I’m never satisfied with just a glass, I just opted to abstain from wino.

We ordered the canapes, shrimp pesto and the smoked salmon in cream sauce pasta. I fell in love with the latter, so much, that I was tempted to order another round, just for myself. But I had to look good for the wedding, hence, the self-control. Heehee. :-D

Anyway, the place is really super nice. You can hang-out (tambay) there the whole time and no one would mind. And it seems that the place was meant for it, too. They have comfy sofas and booths which would make you want to lounge for a long time.

I’d like to go back there again. This time I’ll try out their sandwiches, the cheese platter and of course, the wine. You have to be willing to spend around P300+ for a meal with wine. Cheaper if you split with friends since an order of pasta or sandwhich can feed two.

Here are some of the photos during our get together. (photo above is the double chocolate mousse)

All hail pasta lovers!

Fun times! Congrats, Ycon!
