I remember that there was a time when we only buy just one type of light bulb, commonly used at home, the yellow 40W bulb. Not only does it generate so much heat, but it uses so much electricity.
Aren’t we just lucky that technology has found a way to reduce the wattage and yet deliver the same brightness that the old bulbs do?
Switch to low-watt bulbs (those that use 7W to 12W) for lights which you leave on for longer periods of time. Especially for those found outside the house that you leave on the whole night. Not only will it give out enough luminosity to see in the dark, you also save on money and energy.
And did I mention these bulbs are way cheaper, too?
