My Mother’s Day

mothers-dayMy Mom and I were rarely on the same page in almost everything. And even when she’s miles away from me, I would know she’s mad because she would refuse to talk to me on the phone. She would course everything through my dad.

Some 2 months ago, my mom and I had another big misunderstanding. No, in fact it was huge. I tried my hardest to try and talk to her but my efforts weren’t good enough.

Surprisingly, she called me up on Mother’s Day. It was 4am, PH time when my phone rang. My dad told me mom wants to talk to me.

So she did. But she told me everything in tears. It broke my heart. But since hindi pa buo ang diwa ko that time, it took a while before anything made sense.

She told me how much she loves me. She told me that she loves me even if she doesn’t want to speak to me. That she loves me even when I make mistakes. That she loves me even if I’m stubborn.

I told her I love her too, that I’m sorry I caused her so much heartaches and that I’m too stubborn that I go against their wishes.

So it went on like that for a few mins. She, still in tears.

But do you know what made my heart melt and my eyes swell?

She told me I’m doing a great job raising Elise, despite the circumstances. Aww…

That’s probably the highest praise I could ever get as a mom. Ever.
