Too bad I forgot to take pictures since a photo essay would have been more interesting than a written version of what happened. Anyway, like the title suggested, we made the most of our typhoon-stricken day.
So what do you do when you don’t have electricty, dial-tone, internet or cellphone load? A couple of years back, we took a lot of pictures and tried all types of funny poses. This time, we just hanged out at home, just the three of us.
After getting tired of singing and dancing just about every action song that Elise knows, she decided to play with her toys. And boy, did she literally trashed our place down. Much to my chagrin since I decided to clean up when there wasn’t really not much left to do. Think, a small 1-br condo with a little 2-year old girl throwing those toys all over the place.
Well, I can’t blame her. I mean what’s a little girl to do when she’s cooped up in the house for hours and hours with little light (to reads books sana) or to write on her magic board. She also tried running all over the place, which she can well do whilst we don’t have a lot of furniture around.
Elise was zing zooming all over the place and got tired only after 2 hours of intermittently throwing stuff and running. Then she would badger me to carry her to see if its still raining outside. She wanted to go out so much. I can commiserate.
I made her a little lookout by placing a chair by the windows for her to climb up and check herself. She did so every so often.
She would ask, “Mommy, ambon?”. I would reply with, “Yes, darling, sorry. Play lang tayo inside the house”. Apparently rain and ambon is the same for her.
So basically that’s our agenda the whole day. Running around, singing, dancing, catching toys thrown at you and convincing her she can’t go out to play. Oh and a couple of hours of nap. Weather’s great for a looong naps.
I had a tiring day, yes, but its all worth it since the whole family’s together under one roof. I know it wouldn’t be good to ask for another blackout, but a chance to spend time with family, without tv, or computers or consoles is my type of family day.

true, like going back to basics. going back to the time when life was so simple, nothing of the high tech gadgets and equipment that we have now. what do we get? pure, simple, innocent fun. sometimes these occurrence give us the chance to look back and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. but it’s good it was a rainy day, otherwise, you would have been sweating it out!
Aiza: That’s true. We were thinking of visiting parks during weekends, at least once a month to get away from it all. Wouldn’t that be fun?
