Yes, I know I’m weird and dorky in so many ways but here’s another one to add to the list. I just realized that I have this really unnatural way of remembering people, more distinctively, people I know or I’ve spent some time with.
I kinda associate them with songs. Its usually a song that was playing during the time that person and I were in the same room. Or when they’re doing something really worth remembering. Its like a personal theme.
Take for example, my daughter. She loves dancing to Akon’s Beautiful and Rihanna’s Hatin’ on the Club. So I would remember her each time I hear that song.
I would remember my Grandma when I hear Mariah Carey’s Bye Bye, because it was a song she penned for her own granny. The great Methodist hymn, How Great Thou Art, is for my late Grandpa, who would sing the song with so much feelings and on top of his lungs (short of screaming it out), when played in church.
Top of the World is for my brother, Edric, who loves to sing that song in videoke when he was a whole lot younger.
The Teeth’s Prinsesa is for an old college buddy who used to sing it to me almost everyday.
Happily Never After for Rhea, Elise’s uber patient yaya, since I first heard the song playing on her phone.
Marian Rivera’s So Sexy for my sister-in-law, Kat, who taught Elise how to dance the song.
Our theme song, More Than You’ll Ever Know is also my husband’s theme, syempre.
And so on and so forth. The list will go on and on and on…..
I wonder if there are others out there who have the same uncanny way of remembering people.
