I got tagged! By a new cyber-friend, MarcRoger (who also plays music for the Lord).
This one’s different from all the tags that I’ve come across because its a gauge of how much a Filipino you are. Well at least based on the typical norms and practices that has been passed on from generations. Here goes:
This does not prompt you to repost this quiz, however it would be better if you did. You have to add at least three items to the quiz, and you should tag a dozen (?) people after your post. There are a lot of unique Filipino traits and there’s no reason why you can?t think of three to add. Let?s see how long the list can get.

I’m not sure if it was almost my birthday that I was lucky last night. Guess what? I was one of the lucky winners of $100. Ain’t that grand? I also won a few great stuff like a P300 GC for the Buy and Sell Ads Paper and a bottle of premium grade Basi. Sweet! What a nice birthday present from above.

I feel super-duper excited, just like a teenager. Why? Well, I’m going to attend my first ever EB (eye-ball). Another added first before I reach 30. Ahahaha, babaw.
Anyway, I just thought that it would be nice to finally meet people I’ve been interacting with online, fellow bloggers who helped in the campaign for Filipina SERP.

I could get shot for writing this, ahahaha. Not really. Its just that I still don’t understand why there are so many beautiful brown-skinned Filipinas wishing, praying and hoping to be a whole lot whiter.
Well, for one, I could blame 300 or so years of spanish colonialism for making our ancestors believe that if your skintone is lighter or if you have that mestiza looks, you can be mistaken for an illustrado or someone from the upperclass. Or even hold accountable the 4-year japanese invasion or the 10 years or so american administration.

Filipinas were once stereotyped as maids or domestic helpers, then eventually were tagged as mail-order-brides and overseas nurse/nurse aides. And now, when you search using online engines like Google and Yahoo! (don’t even try searching for images, ugh!), another ugly stereotype comes out- as dates for hire.
Filipinas are more than that and we all know it. We are a proud race of mixed cultures and diverse societies. To be honest, I don’t want my children, especially my daughter to be ostracised for an image that’s set up by a measly online business. That is just so wrong! This ugly exemplification must stop and it can. We can all be part of the movement in reshaping the Filipina image. Its not going to be instant and it will take a lot of effort to do it. I’ve already edited my ‘About’ page to help out and I’m still thinking of an idea for a post I could include in the crusade. And hopefully this post can convince some to help out too!
